Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava is building a war chest to seek a second term in November 2024, raising more than a $1.4 million in just the last two months.
La Alcaldesa collected just a little less than $400,000 in her candidate campaign account — $282,885 in March, when she officially launched her re-election campaign, and $110,942 in April, according to the latest campaign reports. Her political action committee, Our Democracy, did much better, amassing more than $1 million — $811,850 in March and $205,275 in April.
That means that $1.1 million was raised in just the first month of the reelection run.
The largest check was for $75,000 from La Alcaldesa’s mother, Lois Levine of Brooklyn. Next come Florida East Coast Industries, investor Ken O’Keefe and Crei Holdings, a developer of affordable housing, and automobile magnate Alan Potamkin, with $50,000 each. Ponying up $25,000 each, we have Joseph Badia of Badia Spices, Barbara A. Stiefel, heiress of the Stiefel Medicinal Soap Co. fortune and habitual Democrat donor, two real estate development companies locally and PepsiCo beverage distributor in Purchase, NY. Developer Lewis Swezy wrote an $18K check.
Among those that gave $10,000 we have LSN Partners Alex Heckler and Marcelo Llorente, a one time mayoral candidate himself, Jackson Health CEO Carlos Migoya, attorney Lewis Eidson, brothers Rene and Raymond Gonzalez, who contract with the county for transportation services, and Bruce and Evelyn Greer.

So far, there are no real viable official candidates running against her. Cuban American activist and influencer Alex Otaola, who announced his candidacy last month, reported raising $31,614, including a $20K loan to himself. Most of his donations are in $25 checks. Miguel “El Skipper” Quintero reported one $1,000 contribution — from his own company, Miami Artisan Village.
Las malas lenguas say Levine Cava may face a possible challenge from Miami-Dade Commissioner Raquel Regalado or Coral Gables Mayor Vince Lago — both of whom are also proficient fundraisers.

You can not compete against those who get money from Developers like the Cuban Cosa Nostra politicos by relying on twenty dollar donations .
Cava is no winner when it comes to city maintenance as street white / yellow divider lines fade away , completely gone in many areas and she does not do a thing about it like pretty much EVERY Miami Mayor .
In many regards she is an Absentee Landlord BUT she isn’t lining her pocket or allowing her friends to steal thus by Miami standards she is remarkable.
I am sure she says she collected all that money by local residents donating $20.24.

After his humiliating losses last month, Lago’s “proficient fundraiser” status is questionable at best. That spigot has become more of a drip-drip. Regardless, in his case, $$$ is least of his issues.
