Miami Man founds ‘Deplorables Nation’, plans inaugural ball

If Hillary Clinton and her supporters think they already regret the day she Hillary Clinton say what?uttered the words “basket of deplorables,” they will soon realize things can always get worse.

Sure, there has been an explosion of deplorables t-shirts and mugs and mouse pads. But now there is also a movement that could haunt Democrats for years.

Deplorables Nation casts itself as the counter to Occupy Democrats and Move On. And it could become an umbrella for millions of people who are suddenly engaged and feel empowered by the election of Donald J. Trump.

The non-profit is the brainchild of Evelio Medina, president of the Miami Brickell Chamber of Commerce and creator of myriad local magazines and websites. He’s always inventing something. And he loves politics. evelioSo the movement was a natural for this lifetime Republican and Cuban-American immigrant.

“It’s not an idea, it’s a movement,” Medina said. “There’s a big group of people who didn’t have a tent. Now they do.”

Does he mean racists? Or homophobes? Probably not. The statement was so sweepingly general that Trump supporters who are not necessarily racists or misogynist or homophobic — and there are some — have taken it as a sort of badge of honor. Seriously. Medina’s said he did some online research that indicated more than 70 million people used the word “deplorables” in a positive manner after Clinton said her famous three little words.

“The bottom line is that we are the proud deplorables.”

Never one to pass up an opportunity, Medina seized the term and trademarked Deplorables Nation. But he didn’t really know what to do with it until the idea hit him to have an alternate inaugural ball. This is a guy whose expertise is expos and events.

The Deplorables Inaugural Ball Jan. 19 will be at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. Medina actually thinks the future POTUS will show up. “He might. He owes his election to the deplorables.”

Tickets are $500 or $1,000 for VIP seats, which Ladra assumes are more comfortable and which come with two souvenir packagesdeplorables ball instead of one. It’s interesting that Trump has said his All American Inaugural will be more for the everyman and tickets cost $250-$350.

What true, self-respecting deplorable would spend $500 on a ticket to a fancy party where the headlining musical act is the country group Saints of Havana?

There are 2,000 tickets for the Deplorable Inaugural Ball so that means that Deplorable Nation stands to raise at least $1 million on this one event alone, that’s not counting the $1,000 tickets or souvenirs. Very Trumpesque of Medina to try to become a millionaire on the POTUS’ coattails.

Medina says the funds raised by the sale of tickets and commemorative souvenirs that can also be bought online will go to the non-profit to push Trump’s agenda — and make sure he stays on track.

“If he gets scattered or distracted, we are here to remind him,” Medina said.

Well, sure, why wouldn’t he go to your ball now with an invitation like that?

  1. really? first time you’re embarrassed for Cubans? We got everything from legions of corrupt Hialeah politics to the world capital of Medicare fraud. just this week we read about a scaming grandmother heading back to Cuba with her $15 million of our tax money meant for sick people and this is what embarrasses you?

  2. Luz, I am not ashamed to say, I am of Cuban descent. Interesting, that the majority of Cubans, that fled communism in the sixties, seventies and early eighties voted for Trump. The reason is that they were disgusted with an Obama administration that didn’t listen and set aside the opinions of the original immigrants that sought freedom, were castigated and imprisoned for having democratic and religious beliefs, the original “deplorables, scum and “escoria” per the Castro’s. On the contrary, this administration bent over backwards to please the communist regime, yet witnessed that there was no improvement of human rights or liberties, yet more imprisonments, beatings, and chastisements. This administration didn’t meet with the political prisoners or those whose human rights were being trampled, nor did they heed their advice to demand that the Castro regime improve the rights of the Cuban people in exchange for better relations. These original immigrants from Cuba heard Hillary loud and clear when she promised to continue the Obama administration’s position and direction towards relations with Cuba. They heard even clearer, when she said that those that disagreed with her were “a basket of deplorables”. They probably remember that the Castro regime had given them the same title and worse. I’m sure that your mother and father, like mine were also originally those immigrants who fled communism for a better life for their children, who were labeled deplorables or worse.
I agree Batista was a dictator, yet history has shown he was a baby in diapers compared to the Castro’s. That being said what do you mean by “Batista mentality”.

    • I am Cuban born in Cuba and the majority in Miami are idiots . They have never lived outside of Miami and thus have zero political/police standards .

For starters they vote for any self serving, do nothing Cuban crook as long as he/she has the letter ‘R’ in front of their name .

Insane property taxes with extra surcharges for what is included in property taxes in any REAL city , zero city accountability and a police dept which spends most of their shift hanging out instead of patrolling .

This is the Miami Cubans version of Republican .

Cuban politicos R or D = Organized crime NOT just in Cuba .

This isn’t about Trump nor Hillary . My point is that people with zero political standards shouldn’t be used as an example of who to vote for because the Miami junta are clueless .

  3. Good. Lord. First time I am embarrassed to say I am of Cuban descent. My mother and father would be appalled. The “Batista” mentality all over again. That worked out really well for Cuba.

    • Luz,
As a whole the other Hispanics are politically apathetic regardless of how many generations in the USA and the few that vote , vote ONLY once every 4 years ignoring state elections .

Be proud that no one has to hold a Cubans hand in order to get us to vote .

Sadly locally Cuban politicos are self serving parasites who con the EASILY conned but again UNLIKE the other ”tribes” we do vote.
