When Daniella Levine Cava was running for a county commission seat, she got a little help and moral support from her friendly neighborhood 
Democrat Congressman, Joe Garcia.
Now she wants to return the favor.
Levine Cava, whose grassroots campaign beat Miami-Dade Commisioner Lynda Bell Aug. 26, appealed to her supporters Wednesday in a last call for volunteers — but for Garcia this time, not herself.
“Rep. Garcia has been a good friend to me and to South Florida, always putting our issues first. We need to keep him in Congress,” she wrote in an email blast. “With only one month to election day, we need all of our supporters to help him win the old fashioned way – by talking to voters about the issues that matter to us in South Florida.”
She asked that volunteers report Sunday to one of three Garcia campaign locations — Hammocks, Palmetto Bay or Florida City — to go out canvassing.
This is the weekend before absentee ballots are mailed.
“I told Joe that I would work hard to get 50 members of our grassroots team to show up this weekend and help turn out voters,” Levine Cava wrote.
“We know we will win if we turn out to vote and that means we need your help once again!”
I’ll say. Garcia needs at the very least the core base support that ushered Levine Cava into office if he wants to be more than a one-term congressman. That means the unions and the librarians and the Pet’s Trust people and the Democrats, which he supposedly already has.
Meanwhile, Miami-Dade School Board Member Carlos “Crybaby” Curbelo has Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen batting for him in the Keys.
But IRL also plugged Bell in the commission race — and look how well that turned out.

Carlos Curbelo believes that Social Security and Medicare are “Ponzi” schemes. He doesnt’s say that in Miami but he does in DC, far away from his elderly constituents in a private gathering. He is part of a corrupt new breed of Republican who don’t care how much pain they inflict on the middle class as long as they get their and their friends wallets filled.
Joe Garcia has the support of the Miami Dade Democratic Party. That is a given. Garcia also has the bipartisan support of Venezuelan American citizens because he has been very active in immigration issues including submitting a Bill that addresses the Venezuelans here in South Florida particularly. When did you last hear about a Freshman Congressman getting assigned to the Judiciary Committee? I think that is immensely impressive.
I checked out the congressional record for several Representatives. Garcia has been more active that just about any freshman Representative and a heck of a lot more active than even seasoned veteran Representatives.
Garcia has worked very hard to Represent Hispanics and homeowners as and a bunch of other issues he has handled. But, Republicans have been nasty to him and keep inventing lies, or taking things out of context.
Losing Gracia as a Representative would be a big loss to South Florida, not just his district. And that’s probably why Daniella Levine is working to support him.
She is everything Joe isn’t. Smart, ethical, independently minded and not beholding to the usual suspects.. As a rising star in the party she has to do something for Joe but I sure would not be getting in bed with is guy. Remember who the Herald compared her to in their endorsement She might ask WWDD?
