The Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics and Public Trust is selling a three-disc set of its Political Campaign Ethics 
Conference held earlier this year. It’s like a crash course in government accountability and integrity and includes segments on absentee ballot fraud, campaign consultants, elections investigations, phantom contributors, handling media coverage and the use of ethnic, racial and sexual innuendo in campaigns.

Speakers include Justice Gerald Kogan, former U.S. Attorney Kendall Coffey, former Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart, journalist Helen Ferre, Former State Sen. Oh, and gypsy con-artist Vanessa Brito, who we all know is a lying scam artist. Maybe her session is called “How to Make Third Party Confirmation Groups Look Legit.”
Next thing we know is Miami’s Assistant City Attorney Veronica “Little Miss Ultra” Diaz — investigated for steering business to her sleazy boyfriend’s lawfirm and taking complimentary VIP tickets to the Ultra Music Festival — will be speaking at a session called “How to Say No to Illegal Gifts.” Or, wait, maybe a double feature with: “How to Allude to Endorsements You Don’t Have.”

Anyway, the three-disc set for $75 may be worth it for some people. Especially attorneys, who earn eight hours of Continuing Legal Education credits required by the Florida Bar – including three ethics credits! Not even sure how that works. Will the attorneys be quizzed later on the content? Will they have to check in when they start watching and punch out when they stop?

So it comes to this! Joe Centorino hawking cd’s at $75 a pop of a symposium unworthy of showing in a third rate burlesque theatre. One look at the list of characters in this parody is enough to make you dizzy! There is Lincoln Diaz Ballart, who worked hard in the 1980s to lay the groundwork for non English speaking older exiles to become citizens and by doing so initiated the cottage industry we know today as absentee ballot fraud. There is Ben Keuhne, known to represent every deviant politician who falls on hard times and who has a knack for placing the State Attorney’s Office prosecutors under a spell that drives them to shelf cases for years until victims and witnesses move or die from natural causes. And who could forget! Patricia Mazzei, Miami Herald writer and Carlos Gimenez apologist who in 2012 while being involved in an amorous relationship with a Commissioner Zapata and Gimenez campaign consultant blocked every attempt to disclose Gimenez’s underhanded tactics. That should be an ethics investigation onto itself! So hurry, buy your cd’s and some snake oil while you are at it, it will make the thrust feel a bit less painful.
Including Suarez and Sorenson is a joke, they both have had Ethics violations.
The county should dissolve the ethics commission and put the money into public corruption investigations. From North Miami to Sweetwater to Homestead/Florida City the corruption is out of control. How does the ethics commission even become remotely relative when thieves posing as elected officials are dealing city dollars to their pals?
Shut it down and give the cds to the libraries for future generations who may actually care about ethical behavior in politics.
