We knew it was going to get good. But did we know it would be this fast?
Less than 24 hours after former Congressman David Rivera announced he wanted his office back, and less than
three hours after he qualified in Tallahassee for the race in District 26, two ex-staffers of his have endorsed Miami-Dade School Board Member Carlos Curbelo, who is seen as Rivera’s main rival in the primary, even though there are three other candidates (read: two). Former Miami-Dade Commissioner Joe Martinez and Cutler Bay Mayor Ed MacDougall also want a shot at challenging Congressman Joe Garcia, who beat Rivera in 2012, in Novemer.
The primary is in August.
“As native South Floridians with over 27 years of combined experience in the US House of Representatives, today we formally endorse Carlos Curbelo in his campaign to represent Florida’s 26th Congressional district,” wrote Hector Arguello, Rivera’s former legislative director and Ariel Fernandez, his former deputy district director.
Sounds ungrateful to me. But read on.
“The next two years are crucial in setting the course for our nation’s future. We need leaders who can focus on the work at hand and actively represent the people. There is no doubt in our minds that Carlos Curbelo is the best man to honorably represent the residents of the 26th Congressional district,” reads an email from Fernandez.
Fernandez and Arguello take a stab at their one-time boss, who has been mired in a number of controversial scandals and/or investigations into corruption and is currently a person of interest, at the very least, in the case involving the planting and financing of a fake candidate in the 2012 Democratic primary.
“Carlos is a highly qualified individual who for many years has been an avid fighter for this community and has worked tirelessly for the people of South Florida. Carlos has the aptitude, drive, integrity and focus to effectively
serve our community. We know Carlos will be an excellent representative of the interests of the residents of the 26th Congressional district, who for too long have been underrepresented in Congress by Members mired in scandal.
“Carlos is a man of integrity who will be able to devote his full attention to the serious work ahead in Congress, without any unnecessary distractions. We are proud to stand with Carlos Curbelo!”

My take is that chances are that either Hector Arguello and Ariel Fernandez jumped in to support Curbelo because Rivera waited to the last minute to run or they are in support of Common Core. As everyone knows Curbelo is the only candidate that supports Common Core. Also, don’t forget my friends that a vote for Curbelo will strengthen Ileana Ros Lethinen and Mario Diaz Ballart. Cuberlo also supported Charlie Crist. God help us.
Take this link to download video from 2008 Republican Executive Committee Election when Carlos and David first started fighting! Includes speeches, David hugging Curbelo after he won, and people walking out (including Curbelo) in protest!

The Republican Executive Committee is full of communists del Oriente and David controls it!
I caught one of the TV news stations running B roll of him filing followed with an interview of IIeana Ros-Lehtinen endorsing Curbelo. They even included her tortured reasoning why she was not criticizing Rivera, just endorsing his opponent.
Ah….25 five years later and Ronald Reagan’s 11th commandment still followed by those who served under him.
What a surprise! The calculating political operatives go with a calculated political decision to support the candidate in front (i.e. most money)…..in their version of reality at least.
These 2 are simply trying to get jobs with Curbelo. Pure and simple!
Beware Carlos, these 2 are only in it for themselves and have no regard for you or your desire to serve the people of the 26th Congressional district.
[…] periodista Elaine de Valle informa en su sitio “Political Cortadito” que Héctor Argüello y Ariel Fernández, que anteriormente trabajaron en el equipo de David […]
Curbelo has no experience I would vote for anyone Curbelo. BTW I live in the district
The life of s politician! TWENTY SEVEN years of combined experience at the U.S. House of Representatives! That means 27 years with the ear to the ground trying to get on board every shady deal discussed behind closed doors, jockeying for sweetheart contracts and sticking it to the tax payer every chance they get! Gotta hand it to you boys, you must have a strong stomach to carry around that load of crap.
27 years of corruption, dirty deals, and paper bags full of cash tell them Curbelo is the right man for the job. They won’t skip a beat…
Speaking of Curbelo, he’s the little kiss a$$ that supported the name change of an East Kendall elementary school to honor Lincoln Diaz Balart. When he was pressed by parents at a meeting he and the district representative refused to disclose who had requested the name change. Scum bag!!!!
So, I’m creating a little score sheet. On it:
Authenticity
Honor
Legislative Experience (number of years in an elected position)
Political Ideology
Those are the big 4 for me folks. This is going to be a mighty interesting race. Deficits abound.
Can somebody please tell me where Postalita Curbelo has ever held a 9:00-5:00 job?
