The Miami-Dade County Elections Department finished on Wednesday an in-depth test of its voting equipment in preparation for the Nov. 5 general election.
The “Logic and Accuracy Test” is the final test prior to equipment deployment for the election, a department statement read. Each step of the voting and tabulation process was tested: ballots were cast according to a predetermined outcome of a mock election, the votes were tabulated, and reconciled to ensure they were counted accurately.
This is the largest voting operation in the state of Florida and the seventh largest in the country. So we better get it right.

“This comprehensive test has been completed and the results are as expected,” said Elections Supervisor Christina White. “Our equipment is functioning properly. Votes were tabulated accurately and have been verified.
“Miami-Dade voters can feel confident that we are Election Ready.”
This week, the department will begin deploying equipment to 33 early voting locations, which will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day beginning Monday. Each early voting site will also have a drop box for absentee or vote-by-mail ballots to be submitted.
White has gone on radio stations to urge voters to get ready, too, and study their choices — especially with six proposed state amendments and local ballot questions. They can see customized sample ballots online that will reflect the races and questions for their district or city. This will help speed up the in-person voting process.
The last day to request an absentee or mail-in ballot is Oct. 24. And just because you got one in the past doesn’t mean you’ll get one this year. A new law passed last year requires voters to renew their vote-by-mail requests every two years. So just because you got one in 2022, doesn’t mean you will this year.
