Because six campaign offices are apparently not enough, the campaign to re-elect Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava will open a seventh regional office this weekend. This one is in North Miami.

The campaign has previously opened a headquarters in Little Havana with five other offices in Miami Beach, Liberty City, South Miami, Miami Gardens and Homestead.

At 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Levine Cava will be joined by Miami-Dade District 2 Commissioner Marleine Bastien and North Miami Mayor Alix Desulme to open the seventh field office at 12490 NE 7th Avenue, Unit 213-215. Other local leaders and campaign volunteers are also expected.

Isn’t this a lot of rent for an election that the DLC Camp expects to be over on August 20? The campaign is working hard to avoid a runoff by getting at least 50% of the vote plus one in the first round.

“Our offices reinforce the momentum we have going into August because we now have over 250 volunteers who are energized to help re-elect the mayor,” said campaign spokesperson Claire VanSusteren.

“In fact, we have so much energy that we’ve added offices to fuel the people-powered campaign,” VanSusteren told Political Cortadito. “The grassroots campaign is stronger than ever because this community believes in our mayor and we will see that on August 20th.”

The openings certainly encourage the volunteers and even the candidate.

“I am so inspired by the overwhelming support and enthusiasm at the South Miami office opening as our community joined together with passion and determination for victory in August,” Levine Cava said in May after the opening of the South Miami campaign shop.

“With fewer than 100 days until the election, we’re continuing to do the important work of connecting with voters who share our vision for a stronger, more equitable Miami-Dade County,” Levine Cava said in a statement.

There are six candidates challenging Levine Cava’s second term, led by Miami Lakes Mayor Manny Cid. He does not have even one campaign office.

“We decided against a brick and mortar campaign office,” Cid told Political Cortadito. “Instead, we have a mobile campaign office where we go directly to the people with yard signs, door hangers, walk and call lists.”

It’s a small sedan, he said. “We have a tight budget.”

Of course, Levine Cava has way more campaign money than Cid, so she can afford the rents.

According to Miami-Dade Property Apppraiser records, the North Miami building where her office will be located is owned by North Miami developer Yoram Izhak, who also owns the building that houses the Miami Gardens campaign shop, and also a field office for the Florida Democratic Party. The South Miami office is in a building owned by Harvey Weinreb of Jericho, NY. The Liberty City office is in a building owned by Cuthbert “Mr. Broadway” Harewood. The Homestead office is in a building owned by chiropractor Barry Burak. The Miami Beach building where her campaign office is located is owned by a New York corporation. And her Little Havana headquarters is owned by Antonio and Alina Alfonso.
