And Jose Aragu gets a $300K gift from Ken Griffin
A new poll among more than 500 Republican voters shows that former Miami Commissioner Joe Sanchez, a Florida Highway Patrol spokesman, and Rosanna “Rosie” Cordero-Stutz, an assistant director at the Miami-Dade Police Department, are the No. 1 and No. 2 favorites for Miami-Dade sheriff in the Republican primary next month.
The survey, done over five days ending Monday, gave Sanchez 16.3% of the vote if the race were today. Cordero-Stutz got 13.7%, which is an increase from the last survey, which had her at No. 3. Retired Major Mario Knapp is at No. 3, with 12% of the vote, according to this poll, which Ladra obtained from a very reliable source.
Is it good data? Because former Commissioner Joe Martinez only got 5.9%, which is less than Horse Country and agricop Ernesto “Ernie” Rodriguez, who got 6%. But that could be a result of Martinez’s public corruption arrest two years ago.
Maj. Jose Aragu, of the Midwest District, is at 3.2% and retired Maj. Ignacio “Iggy” Alvarez is at 2.5%. Everyone else should just take a nap already.
Whoever win the GOP primary will go up against Miami-Dade Director of Public Safety James Reyes, who is certain to win the Democrat primary.
The internal poll, conducted by one of the campaigns, also shows that 38% of the voters who responded were still undecided. That’s lower than in a poll done in June.

But interestingly enough, Joe Sanchez’s share of the votes went down, overall. That means that those undecided votes didn’t go his way. Cordero-Stutz got a bigger share. That could be due to the giant signs with her face next to Donald Trump’s. Cordero-Stutz announced Trump’s endorsement in April.
Aragu’s numbers could also climb from here to Aug. 20, thanks to an injection of $300K in a single contribution from hedge fund king Ken Griffin, which raises questions. The check was made July 11 to the Law & Order political action committee registered at the state. Aragu is the chair.
Why is a guy with a net worth of $29 billion trying to seat a sheriff? How does Aragu even know Griffin, who also gave $500,000 to Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava for her re-election campaign?
And here Ladra thought Griffin was a smart guy. But he just threw $300K away.
Maybe Griffin thought he was donating to the Joe Sanchez PAC, which is called Law and Order, without the ampersand.

Ruamen de la Rua began his Law Enforcement career in 1982 with the City of Miami Police Department. He returned to the City of Miami Police Department in 2013 after retiring from the Marion County Florida Sheriff’s Office, where he rose to the position of District Commander.

And this so-called poll DID NOT include all candidates. How can a small percentage of a large population be accurate? Jamie Reyes is garbage. He is not a police officer. Ran a jail over in Broward County and lives in Broward County. He worked for a Sheriff with no integrity. Lied various times on his application about not committing a crime.
Joe Sanchez is your first Miami-Dade County Sheriff. He has the law enforcement and political experience.

So baffling as to how/why a media relations individual from a completely separate and external organization as FHP is would even be competitive in this race. Of course Martinez got less than “horse country and agri cop” whatever that means being that he just joined the race yesterday basically. That agri cop is a Lieutenant and has 30+ years experience in MDPD and has been in the race from day one. Where is the poll for the dem side? Why so sure that Reyes will run away with it? Another fool from an external organization with duties completely unrelated to the duties this job will require. And why is griffin trying to seat a County mayor? But he can’t try to seat a County sheriff?

I think the Marlins deal was one of the biggest cons ever perpetrated on our elected officials. Even then, I would vote for a dupe over someone who covets an endorsement from a charlatan, crook and felon. So for me, it’s anyone but Rosie. If it’s a Republican, great. If I have to vote for Jems, then so be it.
Sanchez does not have the experience. He did horrible things as a Commissioner voting on the Marlins Stadium and changing the zoning for his friends property with no public notice or input. He is a fraud!
