Congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar is a copycat.
Yeah, yeah. All Republican candidates pull the socialist card like it’s campaign gold, because it is in some voter demographics. But Salazar came out last week with a TV commercial in which she says, almost word for word, what Sen. Marco Rubio has been saying for weeks.
“I’m Maria Elvira Salazar and I approve this message, because my parents lost their country to socialism. Over my dead body will we lose ours.”
Sound familiar? Probably because you heard it in a Rubio commercial.

“I approve this message because I was raised by people who lost their country. I’m not going to let us lose ours,” the Senator says.
Nevermind that his parents came to the United States almost three years before Fidel Castro’s forces overthrew the Cuban government and took power on Jan. 1, 1959. Why let facts get in the way of a good story?
Rubio’s ad was released three weeks ago. It’s the one that also accuses Congresswoman Val Demings of supporting the liberals’ secret agenda to “turn boys into girls.”
I kid you not. Rubio should lose just on that. That kind of speech should be a hate crime.
Both incumbents are facing real battles. Congresswoman Val Demings is Rubio’s first real challenge in, well, ever. And polls show Sen. Annette Taddeo within the margin of error of taking Salazar’s seat in District 27, which is going to be a nationally-watched race.
Both ads have been running in English and Spanish, pushing fear-mongering to new levels. Lose our country? We almost lost our country when the Jan. 6 insurrectionists tried to stop the peaceful transition of power after Donald Trump lost the presidential election. Remember that?
Ladra wonders if that’s the “Trump legacy” Rubio says we need to protect.
Salazar’s ad, part of a $500,000 media buy, is her first in the general campaign and the top half of the 30 seconds focuses on inflation.
“When you go to the supermarket, you cannot get all you need. At the gas station, we can’t even fill our tanks,” she says. “Two years ago, we lived in another world.

“But now inflation is out of control, the environment is in danger, and the American Dream is slipping away.”
It’s funny how she pronounces her name differently in English: Maria El-vy-rah sounds more like a Halloweenish villain than a congress member.

In the same ad, Salazar wistfully notes that “2 years ago we lived in a totally different world.” We sure did: it was mid pandemic with thousands dying daily. Nothing nostalgic about that, Ms Salazar. Inflation is a worldwide problem and it too shall pass. Politicians dictating what goes on deep inside a woman’s body is text book Big Government that will be with us for years to come if these MAGA Republicans are given a chance.
Maria Elvaira Salazar is willing to give her life “over my dead body” to fight socialism. Hillarous.

Historically around the world most of the socialist and communist countries originated from a leftist, Democratic Party. Marco Rubio and Maria Elvira Salazar are correct for pointing this. What is wrong with this country can be seen from the comments seen here. Who gives a crap about Marco’s and Maria’s past. This about now and how you have seen movement of the Political Party shifting to an ideology that this country was not founded upon.
I agree with Alfredo Hidalgo Gato. Not all Democrats are Socialists, but all Socialists are Democrats. That is the root of all the problem we are facing today. It is time to eradicate this problem.
The thought that Rubios family didn’t consider losing Cuba as losing their country because they had moved here is absurd and YES we are in danger of losing this country to Socialism and the proof is in the changes and proposed changes these liberals are championing, what has the left done ? A free for all to Illegal immigrants, rising gas prices ( and they were rising before the Russia issue ) , the highest inflation in over 40 years ( Carter was the last ) wanting to indoctrinate our children to THEIR moral values not the parents, protect the criminals and handcuff the Police, and gifting our money in unnecessary projects or programs in a attempt to buy votes thus creating a deficit that would take various generations to reel in ,and all of this in less than two years, If we don’t take Congress back to a conservative majority we are in for more of those failed Ideas that only appeal to the Democrats, it’s interesting that not all Democrats are Socialists but ALL Socialists are definitely Democrats, that should say it all.

These elected officials do know how to get elected by a portion of the Miami area Hispanics, Cuban or not.
Can’t you see how some Venezuelans are badmouthing their own compatriots that are now trying to settle here.
The worst choice voters did make a couple of years ago was electing Salazar over Shalala, a woman highly connected, former secretary of health and really able to get the beef down here, and instead they elected this poor soul who is just a papagayo who doesn’t know anyone up in Washington.

I’m not surprised by the “the communists are coming” rhetoric coming from our Republican candidates. They are betting that the voters will be more concerned about making Cuba free than the problems we face today, like a ban on abortion, the banning of books from our libraries, etc. It is up to the voters to decide whether they realize that the emperor has no clothes.
Ironically, those very freedom fighters denounce the thousands of Cubans, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans that are “overwhelming our open borders”. It was OK for Rubio’s family to come to the US, even if fleeing communists was not the reason, but not for the new immigrants.
After this Trump nightmare is over, I would advise the Republican Party to change its name, because they have lost its credibility.
Political ad season is frustrating. My opponent is bad. We have too many problems. I’m good. But missing is, here’s how I’m going to fix those problems.
I love that number three on her list of issues is the environment when republicans refused to believe that humans have any impact on what’s happening to climate. Environment is an acceptable word when climate is a liberal trigger word.
I read his book only because one of my grandmothers friends gave it to me and you are correct , they left few years before Fidel .
Rubio’s family is what you call an economic refugee not political .
His father fled Batista’s corruption and failing economy . Rubio admits it in his book AFTER he was caught in the lie that they fled Castro and he had to rewrite a few things .
Castro which my parents lived under for years was WAY worse then Batista so not sticking up for the Castro’s but your point is true .

Most new voters are Non Affiliated and more are changing their registration to Non Affiliated which I did few years ago ..
Most vote not for the candidate but more like against the other . Vote for the lesser of the evils is the general ideology .
