The current COVID-19 vaccination distribution process in Miami-Dade is apparently not for everyone — at least not for those without Internet access. Registration for the new life-saving vaccine is only online.
So, Miami-Dade Commissioner Kionne McGhee has opened his office for constituents without WiFi or internet access to register there.
“I want to make sure that all my constituents who are unable to register online can receive this life-saving vaccine,” McGhee said in a statement. “I have converted my office into a registration site, which will be available to all in need.”
Within two hours of the announcement Thursday, more than 45 people had called to make an appointment, McGhee told Ladra.

The numbers are still climbing in Florida and Miami-Dade, which reached 311,606 cases on Tuesday, according to the Florida Department of Health’s COVID dashboard. There have been almost 10,000 hospitalizations and almost half as many deaths (4,257). This new “registration site” at 10710 SW 211th Street, suite 206, is open from noon to 4 p.m. daily “until further notice.” For more information, call 305-234-4938.
Seems like that’s something every commissioner should do with his or her office. Internet access is not only in short supply in Goulds and Richmond Heights. There are probably WiFi desserts in every district.
So what say ye Keon Hardemon? Jean Monestime? Rene Garcia?
“I know there are pastors in many communities who have also offered to help residents register,” McGhee said.
