Former State Rep. and Miami-Dade School Board Member Renier Diaz de la Portilla, who is running for county commission in District 5 against incumbent Eileen Higgins, is not the best looking of the three DLP brothers (that award goes to Miguel).
But the 2.0 version on his campaign website is a total babe.
Diaz de la Portilla went live with his website Wednesday with an about page that features a good-looking, bearded hipster in a chill pose drinking coffee or tea from a porcelain cup in a rustic setting. It is not Renier Diaz de la Portilla. Ladra would vote for that guy. And maybe that’s the point.
Nah. Actually, it looks like it’s a place-setter put there while the candidate — who also activated a new Twitter handle on Wednesday — gets his professional photos taken.

“Renier Diaz de la Portilla is an experienced policymaker who was born and raised in Miami,” the page says, and there is a slogan or tagline that says “From Miami, For Miami,” on the homepage, so that’s going to be his attack on Higgins.
“Diaz de la Portilla was the youngest person ever elected to the Miami-Dade School Board and was later elected to the Florida legislature at the age of 29,” it reads. “As a member of the Florida Housing Finance Corporation, Renier knows what it takes to bring affordable housing and transportation to our district.”
The internet stock image has been used before on pages about male self care and a blog article titled “How to tell if your wife is cheating: 15 signs most men miss.” It was probably one of the images his web designer could choose to show what the page could look like. And it’s not the only internet stock image that the website designer is using to set up the page with dummy text.
But it’s still interesting that it was published or made “live” before it was ready and it’s a riot that the photo chosen for the about page was that guy.
Maybe RDLP needed an ego boost.
