Miami’s big GOP fundraiser goes to ultra blue Miami Beach
This year’s Lincoln Day Dinner, the Miami-Dade Republican Party’s largest fundraiser, will feature a double header: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Sen. Marco Rubio are both scheduled to speak.
And it’s going to be in the middle of one of the bluest zones of the county: Miami Beach.
This is the biggest gathering of Republicans possibly in the state, with 100 tables and a capacity of more than 1,000. It always sells out. Miami-Dade GOP executive director Brandon Diaz said they are almost sold out, with 10 days to go, and that includes at least two top-tier $12,500 chairman’s tables.
There are also Reagan tables for $7,500, Freedom tables for $5,000 and Liberty tables for $2,500. Details are on the county GOP’s website where you can also purchase the nosebleed tickets at $250 for general admission and $500 to include the VIP reception.

“The governor has great pull,” Diaz told Ladra. “He does great when it comes to speaking and getting a crowd.”
Also driving sales might be special guest Jorge Masvidal, a USC welterweight fighter who is a big fan of Donald Trump‘s and has been at several events with the former president.
This is the first time, in recent history at least, that the Lincoln Day Dinner is held in Miami Beach — which is a Democrat stronghold. But the Fontainebleau Hotel is also one of South Florida’s most iconic and happening locations and Miami-Dade GOP Chairman Rene Garcia, a Miami-Dade commissioner, wanted to do something really special for the guv’s re-election year.
“That’s really the only place that could accommodate a crowd this size,” Garcia told Ladra on Wednesday, adding that there will be at least 1,000 attendants, one of largest dinners. “We have a great line-up and we wanted to make sure we had a great venue.”
Okay, and it’s a little “in your face,” also, he admits.
In addition to the high profile speakers, Garcia said there will be legislators and committee members and chairs from other county party offices. It’s important to get energized for this year’s election, not just at the state level but in Congress.

“We need to take back the House and, hopefully, take back the Senate,” he said. “People are aware of the importance of this election. Joe Biden’s approval rating is terrible. People are freaking out about inflation, gas prices.”
Garcia, a former Senator, who has been stepping up his Republican cred for months. He’s even more Republican now than when he was in Tallahassee and he was considered a moderate.
DeSantis will be fresh off the special session that’s been called after he vetoed the redistricting map. Both the senate and house leaders have said they will not be redrawing the map but rather considering the map drawn by the governor, which critics say favor the Republican Party.
