Alina Garcia, a longtime Republican attaché who has worked in the elected offices for Congressman David Rivera, former and disgraced State Sen. Frank Artiles, Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Petronis and Miami-Dade Commissioner Esteban “Stevie” Bovo, has moved to the city of Miami to work for Joe Carollo.
For the quinfecta.
Garcia has worked two stints with Bovo, first as chief of staff, then as commission aide. She made $82,000 this year. She found herself jobless after Bovo lost the county mayoral race Nov. 3.
But not for long.
“I worked with Joe Carollo when he was the mayor,” Garcia told Ladra Monday. “He is on the right side of the issues.”
Well, she better buckle up, because the issues in Miami are different. Ladra wonders if she’s been briefed yet on the Ball and Chain war or on the recall defense.
Garcia said she hadn’t started yet and could not provide a date or salary. The paperwork is being processed. But her heart is already in it. She posted on twitter Saturday about Carollo intervening on behalf of some Cuban protesters that were arrested on Saturday.
Aaaaah… those must be the issues she was talking about.
Commissioner Carollo did not return several calls and texts for comment. It’s an interesting hire, however, considering how much he rants about Chavistas in our midst and how close Garcia is to “Nine Lives” Rivera, who has been accused of taking $15 million from the Venezuelan government (and hasn’t thrown Ladra even the tiniest bone).
“I haven’t talked to David in a long time,” she said.
Garcia better keep her resume handy. Carollo, who is still fighting a recall, may not last past this term when it ends in November.
Although maybe then she will go work for Commissioner Alex Diaz de la Portilla. Maybe we can call that the Six Stages of Public Achievement?
