Don’t blame Miami-Dade Commissioner Esteban “Stevie” Bovo for his brother’s racist and fascist rants on social media. He is not his brother’s keeper.
In response to a New times story, Bovo has said he did not know about Enrique “Henry” Bovo‘s posts on a Facebook page he administered which described itself as a “non racial hate group” against the Black Lives Matter movement.
On it, Brother Bovo has posted against former Vice President Joe Biden, who is running for president, and his running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris, including a photo that refers to her as “‘high-end’ call girl,” and in support of arming citizens for a war against BLM activists and the dreaded Antifa.
In one post, New Times reported, Henry Bovo wrote “fuck them commies.” In another post, he promoted Stevie Bovo’s mayoral run with a photo of his brother and Donald Trump.
But Ladra believes Bovo when he says he didn’t know anything. Because Stevie never knows anything that goes on around him. Bovo doesn’t live in Hialeah. He lives in oblivious bliss.

Remember when he let go his campaign fundraiser Esther Nuhfer because of her alleged ties to the Venezuelan government? Nuhfer was on Team Bovo until news broke that she allegedly received millions from former Congressman and onetime Bovo ally David Rivera, who had allegedly been paid by Nicolas Maduro regime to lobby on the government’s behalf.
Dropping her like a hot potato, Bovo said he had no idea that Nuhfer had taken that money or what she had done with it.
He saw nothing, heard nothing, knew nothing.
And when that county employee from his Hialeah district office was arrested for stuffing absentee ballots into the trunk of her car in the 2012 elections? Well, he didn’t know anything about that either. Somehow, the cops and the state attorney and the press and the voters and everybody bought the story that the 25-year-old district aide, who was probably the newest member of the office staff, ran the complicated boletera network, a longtime staple of Hialeah politics, all by herself. Nobody else did a thing.

Especially not Bovo. He didn’t even know it was going on. In his office.
So, these things just happen under Bovo’s nose? Or on his watch? Is he that unaware of what the people around him are doing? He is either the biggest boob on the commission — and that’s a competitive contest — or Bovo is a liar.
It doesn’t really matter whether it’s the former or the latter. We don’t need either to be our next county mayor.
