The day before the first Democratic debate takes stage in downtown Miami, one of the presidential candidates is having her own party with local voters and interested parties.
Can I get a whoop whoop?
Sen. Elizabeth Warren, one of 20 candidates hoping for the chance to topple Donald Trump in 2020, will have a practice run on some issues and zingers when she talks to people at a town hall Tuesday at the FIU Ocean Bank Convocation Center, 11200 SW 8th St. Doors open at 5 p.m. for the public event from 6 to 9 p.m.
Warren, whose profile has grown recently as the compromise candidate, is known for her town halls where she takes questions from voters and unveils parts of her platform, like her $2 trillion plan for “economic patriotism.” She’s had several and the one earlier this month from Fort Wayne, Indiana, was televised live on MSNBC.
Town halls are a great way for candidates to stand out, especially in a large field like this. More of them should be doing this. Maybe more will be announced before the Miami debates are done.
Most interesting will be to see which high profile Democrats are there. Because if they go, that would mean they support Warren over former Vice President Joe Biden or anyone else, right?
