To show what a big bull’s eye Congressman Carlos Curbelo has on his back, Democrats are spending money on negative ads against him a full 15 months before he faces a Democratic challenger in the 2016 election.
To be fair, he’s not the only one. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee released the Republican attack coupons against a total of 18 incumbents across the country.
Pegged to Labor Day, the clever ads are designed to look like coupons and “are good for for one sellout on issues that matter to working families.”
Guess they don’t think he’s a closet Democrat in disguise.
“This weekend is Florida Republican Carlos Curbelo’s Labor Day Sellout event of hardworking Americans,” states a DCCC press release that was probably cut and paste with 18 different names on it. “The paid advertising campaign highlights Congressmen Carlos Curbelo’s votes against hardworking Floridians, including key anti-labor votes.”
The ads will be published online and in some print publications. Please clip and save one for Ladra if you see it.
Items featured in the Curbelo Labor Day weekend “sellout sale”: Votes for the Republican budget proposal to end Medicare’s guarantee and slash Pell Grant funding and votes to support government funding for companies that violate the Fair Labor Standards Act and votes.
“Labor Day Weekend is an important reminder that Congressman Carlos Curbelo has repeatedly sold out working families in South Florida,” said Jermaine House of DCCC.
“From attempting to slash Pell Grant funding to working to end Medicare’s guarantee, Rep. Curbelo gives new meaning to ‘sellout’ each and every day. The release of these print and digital sellout coupons will highlight his betrayal of hardworking families.”
The other names cut and paste into what Ladra will guess are carbon copy statements are:
