As he gets ready for formally announce his presidential campaign, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush‘s wife joined the twitter nation Friday afternoon when she issued her first tweet from @ColumbaBush.
“Privileged to meet @ICADV leaders while in IA with Jeb this weekend. Join me in supporting Domestic Violence prevention. Call 1-800-933-0333,” she posted shortly after 2 p.m.
Don’t know if it’s really Columba Bush or one of her hubby’s handlers at the Right To Rise political action committee, because she links to their website. But it seems a rather typical move for a presidential hopeful to have his First Lady wannabe join him on the social media campaign trail.
Experts and pundits are certain it indicates a move to woo the Latino Vote, because Hispanics use social media at a higher rate then the general public at large.
And Ladra bets she’s going to go viral pretty quickly. In little less than an hour, with only one tweet, Columba Bush had 304 followers. It was growing quickly, but she’s going to have to tweet more to catch up to Jeb’s 187,000 followers (@JebBush).
But I’m not certain they’ll be able to catch up to Sen. Marco Rubio‘s (@marcorubio) 736,000 followers. But he can be a very prolific user. And @TeamMarco, which formed in the last month or so, has almost 11,000 followers.
A sign of ballot boxes to come maybe?
And here’s another question: Will Jeanette Dousdebes Rubio tweet? Both wives have been able to stay low key and pretty much under the radar — but things get different in a presidential race.
Just ask Ann Romney — but not on twitter. She doesn’t have a handle.
