Don’t our elected officials ever learn? Here’s some free advice to them: Do not threaten city employees — especially when you are up for re-election.
Apparently, and according to emails published by Stephanie Kienzle (who could be called the Ladra of the north), North Miami Beach Councilman Frantz Pierre and his wife came outside “aggressively approach” a code enforcement officer Thursay who was citing their home for having a derelict property and violating the fence maintenance code.
“When you see this house, ignore it, if you want to keep your job,” Pierre allegedly told Tasheema Lewis. “I will fire the city manager and the director,” he apparently added for emphasis.
As Lewis was leaving in her city car, Pierre allegedly removed the posting of the citation from his property and threw it at her vehicle.
And it looks like the administration is taking Lewis’ email seriously.
“I very much appreciate having the courage to bring this to your supervisor’s attention and I was glad I was made aware of this,” wrote Deputy City Manager Mac Serda. “It sounds like you handled yourself professionally, despite the unprofessionalism of the resident.”
Ouch!
Serda said he would discuss the incident with the councilman.
Kienzle, the resident blogger, knows this guy and has written about him before. In 2012, she found nine, count ’em, nine voters living at a house he owned and filed a complaint. When a water meter reader went to see if more than three non-relatives were living on a property, against city code, Pierre apparently went ballistic, calling him a “fucking liar” and throwing chairs. It was serious enough to warrant an internal affairs investigation, though that turned out to be inconclusive (read: whitewashed).
Anyway, this guy — who once voted to give himself a 10-fold raise — seems like a real jerk.
“He has outdone himself with his overblown sense of power,” Kienzle wrote in her blog today.
For more on the most recent flip-out, which is apparently going to be investigated, and to see what other stains Pierre has on his record, visit Kienzle’s site at www.votersopinion.com.
Because it seems the drama is always high in NMB around campaign time. The election is May 12.
