Political photo ops usually slow down in the weeks leading up to the Christmas/Hannukah holiday and New Year’s Eve. But we gotta thank some of our electeds for being addicted to social media. They just can’t stop posting selfies and other promotional pics. God bless ’em.
Especially Doral Mayor Luigi “Look At Me” Boria, who single-handedly saved this feature in a rather skim week. Thank you Mayor Boria. Don’t ever change.
Thanks also to our local selfie king, State Rep. Jose Felix Diaz, is also addicted to Disney World. After all, it is the happiest place on Earth. Not Tallahassee. Saturday, he posted a picture of his fourth family vacation to the Magic Kingdom.
Miami-Dade School Board Member Raquel Regalado, another politician who embraces social media, was proud to stand last Monday with some pretty talented students from Shenandoah Middle School after they won five of the six honorable mentions in the Coral Gables Foundation’s art competition.
Miami-Dade Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz was joined by music mogul Emilio Estefan for the holiday “luncheon with the stars” event for 1,200 District 12 seniors at the Miami Doubletree Hotel Wednesday. There were some other “stars” there, but Gloria’s bae was the star attraction.
Newly elected in Palmetto Bay, Mayor Eugene Flinn and Councilwoman Karyn Cunningham look pretty happy at the Palmetto Bay Food and Rock Festival in Ludovici Park.
Cunningham was also present at the swearing in for newly elected Cutler Bay Mayor Peggy Bell. Hey, isn’t that lobbyist and campaign consultant Jose Luis Castillo with them?
And even though she lost her election last month to Doral Councilman Pete Cabrera, former Councilwoman Bettina Rodriguez-Aguilera looks pretty happy too, all dolled up for this fabulous Great Gasbyesque party. Maybe even better than ever. It’s almost like being away from City Hall is good for her.
Ladra thinks its a safe bet that she didn’t go to the Christmas tree lighting in the city Friday. But Doral Mayor Luigi “Look At Me” Boria starred. It’s been a busy week for Mayor Luigi Boria, who also took copious amounts of photos at the Christmas breakfast at the Ronald Reagan Community Center, the opening of a new business in the city and some reunion with “his people,” which Ladra hopes he paid for himself.
Miami-Dade Chairwoman Rebeca Sosa and Commissioner Esteban Bovo, far left and far right (though both are far right), present a proclamation declaring Dec. 1 as World Aids Day in the county. Too bad this happened on Dec. 2.
