“Javierrrr Correosoooo, one-time aide to former Congressman David “Nine Lives” Rivera… you just helped beat the medical marijuana constitutional amendment that everybody originally thought was a sure thing! What are you going to do next?”
Disney World? Nope.
“I’m going to Iowa,” Correoso told Ladra, referring to the 2016 Republican presidential primary.
Correoso was riding high on Election Day, here getting interviewed for a TV news report in Spanish. He had seen the writing on the wall talking to voters and looking at statewide polls that showed the measure legalizing medical uses of marijuana would not get the required 60% a state amendment needs.
In Miami-Dade, where a great number of voters are over the age of 55, that was a pretty easy sell, though. It’s not rocket science.
Still, Correoso believes this feather in his hat will help propel him to a position with the Iowa Republican Presidential Caucus or the national Republican Party.
Joking aside, this last campaign could be the one thing that can help Correoso overcome his past label: “I went from being that David Rivera guy to being that pot guy.”
And that’s going to get you to Iowa how exactly?
