The Hialeah Housing Authority opened its process again last week for folks to apply for Section 8 housing in the City of Retrogress and got so many applicants, the website shut down. The city has extended the deadline until today.
But what city officials are really doing is creating a whole new crop of absentee voters that the Hialeah hoodlums and their absentee ballot machines can manipulate. Ladra and several other journalists have repeatedly heard the stories from scared, elderly voters who said they feared losing their homes if they didn’t vote a certain way.
HHA said they will select 2,500 applications from a random drawing. That’s an attractive number of new, likely Republican voters in a year when Gov. Rick Scott may really need them.
How much you wanna bet they had a voter’s registration drive at the Curtiss E-libary where people went to apply?
Scott already has a boletera lined up in Hialeah, same one he used last time — Emelina Llanes, the known favored ballot collector for Hialeah Mayor Carlos “Castro” Hernandez. According to his 2010 campaign finance report, Scott paid Llanes $5,000 for “contract labor”? The Republican Party of Florida paid her $450 more. What did she do to earn that dough? Llanes does not work the precincts. She does not walk door-to-door in get-out-the-vote campaigns. She does one thing and one thing only: She collects ballots, principally from public housing units and ALFs.

A group of activists armed with a camera caught her red-handed in 2011 as she drove around in the mayor’s SUV and picked up ballots for the city’s mayoral and council races in one of the buildings. She started screaming that she was being attacked, but instead of calling police, she called Hernandez security consultant Glenn “The Goon” Rice.
And, soon, perhaps even as early as November, she could have hundreds if not thousands of additional people to harass for their ballots.
I know how much you need these and boleteras, apparently.
Why else would your campaign have paid Emelina Llanes, the known favored ballot collector for the former Mayor of Hialeah Julio Robaina – whose uncle Sergio “El Tio” Robaina is one of those that was arrested – and current Mayor Carlos “Castro” Hernandez a total of $5,000 on Aug. 26, 2010 for “contract labor”? It’s right there in your campaign finance report. The Republican Party of Florida paid her $450 more. What did she do to earn that kind of dough?
Llanes does not sit at precincts or polling sites with signs. She does not make repeated calls from phone banks. Llanes does one thing: She collects ballots.
